The ‘3-d’ controversy just refuses to die down. It came to the fore when Ambati Rayudu sensationally took a dig at India’s chief selector MSK Prasad after being ignored for the upcoming World Cup. The Prasad-led selectional panel had snubbed Rayudu in order to pick newcomer Vijay Shankar. Rayudu was the latest player to be tried out at number four by India. He had made his comeback to the ODIs during last year’s Asia Cup.
The right-handed batsman hit the ground running in the Asia Cup before scoring a century against West Indies at home. He then had a decent tour of Australia and New Zealand too. However, his form dipped during the home series against Australia. And after three consecutive poor shows, Rayudu was axed from the playing eleven. But not many were expecting that the selectors would drop Rayudu with not much time left before the World Cup.
However, Prasad and his colleagues dropped a big bombshell by dropping Rayudu. Explaining the reason behind the decision, Prasad noted that Shankar was a ‘three-dimensional’ option given that he could bat at No. 4, bowl a few overs of medium pace and is also a good fielder. A miffed Rayudu then did not take long to break his silence after the snub as he hit out at Prasad. Taking a dig at Prasad, Rayudu had tweeted, “Just Ordered a new set of 3d glasses to watch the world cup.”

And it looks like India’s World Cup-bound players are also well aware of the controversy as Hardik Pandya liked Rayudu’s tweet. It is a big indication that even the players are not very impressed with Rayudu’s omission from the World Cup squad.
Pandya sizzles with the bat
Away from Twitter and controversy, Pandya continued his impressive form with the bat against Delhi Capitals on Thursday. The right-hander once again showed his finishing skills by smashing 32 from just 14 deliveries as Mumbai Indians thrashed Delhi by 40 runs to get back to winning ways.
