Gujarat Titans etched their name in the history books by becoming just the second team to win the Indian Premier League in their inaugural stint in the tournament. They defeated Rajasthan Royals, the team who had become the first team to do so in 2008 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on May 29 to lift the silverware in style.

To pay their gratitude to their fans and supporters, the Hardik Pandya-led side conducted a roadshow in Ahmedabad as the champions traveled in an open bus with the prestigious IPL trophy. Hundreds of people turned up for the show to have a glimpse of the winners as the roads were fully packed from Usmanpura Riverfront to Vishwakunj Riverfront.

In the videos shared by the franchise on their official Instagram handle, it was seen that the players enjoyed the roadshow with the same amount of enthusiasm that they had in their matches. A group of cultural dancers was also seen performing ‘Garba’, one of the state’s folk dances, ahead of the team bus as they celebrated Gujarat Titans’ first-ever victory in their maiden IPL stint.

Lockie Ferguson, Abhinav Manohar, David Miller, and Rashid Khan, among others, were seen posing with the coveted cup during the roadshow. Rashid Khan enjoyed every bit of the moment, and he lifted the trophy alongside his skipper to give the public a glimpse of the prestigious cup as the public started hooting for the team.

GT won their maiden IPL Title in their first-ever IPL stint

Speaking of the final match, the Titans held the game tight from the very first ball of the game. Winning the toss, RR skipper Sanju Samson had elected to bat first. But his plan did not work out, and instead backfired as the RR batters struggled to put runs on board. One of the finest performers of the IPL, and the player with the highest runs in the season – Jos Buttler also failed to make it big on the final day.

RR’s struggle came to an end when GT restricted them to a low score of just 130 runs, thanks to skipper Pandya, who registered his career-best figures of 3/17 to lead the team. RR started off the second innings very well, as they scalped two important wickets in the powerplay by dismissing top-order batters Wriddhiman Saha and Matthew Wade.

However, Pandya and Shubman Gill made sure that their squad did not falter in the chase as they approached their maiden title. After Pandya lost his wicket, David Miller and Gill provided their side with the finishing touches that accounted for their team’s magnificent victory.
