In a very short time, Hardik Pandya enjoys an exceptional fan following among the spectators. His ability to hit sixes on a regular basis wows the audience at home and at the stadium as well. He is a stupendous hitter of the cricket ball and once he gets going the ball just sails into the stands. This is the sight the fans flocking the stadium come to watch. But this was not the case with one particular fan, as he got injured being hit by the ball Pandya hit for a maximum in the fourth ODI of the series.

Ball injures a fan

In the 4th ODI of the five-match series between India and Australia, Pandya was batting well and the crowd was loving it. Tosit Aggarwal, who was enjoying Pandya’s batting like the thousands of others in the stadium was in for a blow as but delight turned to despair for him. The 24-year-old was hit by the ball that sailed into the stands and was badly injured.

Tosit was rushed to stadium’s first aid room for treatment then was shifted to HOSMAT hospital for further treatment. Thankfully it was a minor injury and he just needs a few stitches.

“He sustained cuts, measuring 3cm x 1cm, just below the lower lip and lower teeth. The central teeth in the lower jaw had become loose and he was rushed to Hosmat Hospital for treatment. He was trying to avoid the ball but couldn’t gauge its speed. He is out of danger but will need stitches,” Dr Ajith Benedict, who heads medical centre in the stadium, told the Times of India.

With the advent of T20 cricket, the frequency of the sixes hit by batsmen has increased, and there is a need for the crowd to be on their toes and evade getting hit by the ball.
