Since India’s exit in the semi-final of the World Cup, Hardik Pandya has featured in only two international games. He was rested from the team that tour the West Indies in August for all three formats. However, the Baroda all-rounder returned for the three-match T20I series against South Africa. He picked up two wickets from two games and scored 14 runs in the only innings he batted.

He wasn’t picked for the Test series that followed. However, it was revealed that Pandya was nursing a back injury. This is the injury that the all-rounder has been struggling with for a year now. He faced back issues and was stretched out of the field during the Asia Cup last year which ruled him out for a few months. He faced lower back stiffness ahead of the series against Australia at home in February earlier this year as well which ruled him out.

Thus, he flew to the United Kingdom (UK) for surgery. In fact, he posted a picture on social media after the completion of his surgery which turned out to be successful. The BCCI also released a statement stating that the all-rounder had gone to London on October 2nd for the surgery.

Rahul Ganjoo, Zomato’s vice-president noticed a peculiar thing from Pandya’s post on Twitter. He noticed that the star India all-rounder sported a Patek Philippe Nautilus watch. The particular watch that Pandya wore is worth INR 80 lakh. In fact, Ganjoo stated that to avail such watches, there is an eight-year waitlist to get on the waitlist.

It is no secret that Pandya doesn’t shy away from making bold and expensive choices. He was in financial difficulty during his younger days. He has openly admitted that his family wasn’t at its best financial condition when he first started playing cricket. Hence, the pace-bowling all-rounder shot into the limelight during the 2015 IPL. He made his international debut in 2016 and hasn’t looked back since.

The younger Pandya has become India’s premier all-rounder across all formats. In fact, his absence has often affected India’s team balance, especially in white-ball cricket. Hence, India will miss Pandya who is set to be out of action for a few months.
