Hardik Pandya teases Shubman Gill after he thanks Sara Tendulkar

Shubman Gill is being widely tipped to be the next big thing in Indian cricket. The way the youngster has performed so far, he looks primed to create his own legacy in the game. Gill made his way through age-group cricket for Punjab and is now waiting to break into the Indian team. Earlier this year, he also made his ODI debut but could not get a long run as he failed to impress straightaway in testing conditions of New Zealand. He, however, continues to remain on the radar of the national selectors and remains a constant feature in the India A teams.

Gill became an overnight sensation in the cricket-obsessed nation after starring for India in their victorious ICC U-19 World Cup 2018. In the tough conditions of New Zealand, he went on to score as many as 372 runs at an average of over 100 including a sensational century against Pakistan in the semifinal. Gill walked away with the Man of the Tournament award as he enhanced his reputation. That display in New Zealand helped him earn a lucrative deal from Kolkata Knight Riders last year.

So far, Gill has pretty much justified the franchise’s immense faith in him. In this year’s IPL, he scored 296 runs in 14 matches with 76 as his highest score. He was also named the emerging player of the tournament. Following the tournament, he gifted himself an expensive four wheeler, Range Rover.

Congratulatory messages soon started pouring in for the youngster and one of them was from Sara Tendulkar, daughter of the legendary Sachin Tendulkar. Gill quickly returned the favour by thanking Sara for her message. Gill not only thanked Sara but also concluded his message with a heart sign. And not surprisingly, the fans could not stop talking about it.
