Indian cricketer Hardik Pandya is in the middle of a rough patch in his international career. He played the five-match Test series against England, but couldn’t perform to expectations, barring the third match at Trent Bridge in Nottingham, which India won by 203 runs. Subsequently, he was severely criticised for his indifferent performances in his areas of expertise.

Pandya didn’t play the first match against Hong Kong as well in the ongoing Asia Cup in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). He got his opportunity in yesterday’s match against Pakistan at Dubai International Cricket Stadium. However, luck had other plans for him. In the penultimate delivery of his fifth over, he collapsed in his run-up after which he couldn’t stand on his feet.

Pandya not ready to give up

The 24-year-old was thereafter treated with medical attention and was later taken off the park in a stretcher. Later the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) updated that he had suffered from an acute lower back injury. Subsequently, he was ruled out of the multi-nation tournament. Rajasthan-born fast-bowler Deepak Chahar has been roped in as his replacement.

Chahar made his debut in the T20I series against England and he got his maiden ODI call-up. In the meantime, Pandya isn’t ready to drop the gun by any stretch of the imagination. The Gujarat-born cricketer has vowed to make a strong comeback and also mentioned that he will keep his supporters updated on the developments surrounding his injury.

India are next scheduled to play Windies in a Test, ODI, and T20I series in October and November this year and the all-rounder will be keen to recover and make himself available for selection in the series. Meanwhile, he took to Twitter and wrote, “All your love and support is going to make me come back stronger! Will keep you guys up to date on my recovery. Thank you.”
