India Women have everything to cheer for the reason that they have begun their campaign of the Women’s World T20 in the West Indies with a couple of thumping victories against New Zealand and Pakistan respectively. Both their victories came at Providence Stadium in Guyana. During both the encounters, their skipper Harmanpreet Kaur grabbed the limelight.
After her blistering century against the White Ferns, she became the first Indian to accomplish the milestone. She came up with a heartfelt gesture in the second match against Javeria Khan’s troops. Prior to the encounter, both teams stood in unison to sing their respective national anthems. While the players stood in line, there was a mascot in front of everyone.
During the Indian national anthem, the mascot, standing in front of the 29-year-old Harmanpreet, fell ill. The cricketer was quick to realise it and immediately after the anthem came to a close, she carried the child on her arms and handed her to the authorities while heading towards the dugout. The sun was shining bright and the heat might have got to the young girl.

India thump their arch-rivals
As far as the match is concerned, Harmanpreet didn’t have much to do. Pakistan scored 133 runs and later India were awarded 10 penalty runs owing to which Kaur’s women started the run-chase with 124 runs to get. Opening batsmen Smriti Mandhana and Mithali Raj got their team off to a resounding beginning with a partnership of 73 runs from 57 deliveries.
After Mandhana’s dismissal, Jemimah Rodrigues and Raj put on 28 runs for the second wicket. Kaur came to bat in the 15th over with India requiring 33 runs from 31 deliveries. The Punjab-born batter smacked a couple of boundaries and scored 14 runs from 13 balls to see her team through to victory. India are next scheduled to play Ireland on Thursday, November 15.
