Indian Women’s team sensation, Harmanpreet Kaur recently revealed about her ambitions to join the Punjab Police as a child. The star Indian all rounder was offered a position in the Punjab Police as Deputy Superintendent of Police’s (DSP) today. She also expressed her ecstasy after meeting the Chief Minister of Punjab.

The Punjab batter received appreciations from all around the world after a blistering knock against the Southern Stars in the Semi-finals of the recently concluded ICC Women’s World Cup in England. She single-handedly knocked out the reigning champions and the favourites in the knockout stage. Her unbeaten knock of 171* of just 115 balls, contained a mammoth 20 boundaries and 7 sixes at a strike rate of 148.7. She later revealed the fact that she was playing the entirety of the tournament with a finger injury.

Kaur’s childhood dream fulfilled today

“I am feeling very proud after meeting the Punjab Chief Minister. It was my childhood dream to join Punjab Police and it is getting fulfilled today. I am very happy. I am feeling very lucky. Unfortunately, we lost in the finals. But we will try to improve our performance in the coming days as well,” commented Harmanpreet Kaur according to Deccan Chronicle. Furthermore, Punjab Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh on Wednesday also admired the contribution of his compatriot in the tournament.

“She played a brilliant game and it’s because of her India came into the finals.We are very proud that she is from Punjab and now she is going to be permanent with us in the Punjab Police. She is going to keep Punjab flag flying. She will be appointed as DSP,” quoted Singh. “This is a proud moment for us (Punjab Police). I am really grateful to the government also that they took a decision to offer her a post of DSP in Punjab Police,” added Suresh Arora, DGP Punjab Police.
