Harmanpreet Kaur's mother wants Indian girls to be encouraged to excel in sports
Harmanpreet’s father has backed the Indian team to lift the trophy this year and has wished them all the luck in the world.

A day after the historic win over the Aussies, an extremely proud mother of the one and only Harmanpreet Kaur has requested the nation to give their daughters the freedom to live their dreams. She also said that the whole family enjoys watching the girl play and remain glued to the television set when Harmanpreet takes the stance.
“I just want to say other women that the way my daughter has made us proud, they should also give their daughter a chance to live their dream and shouldn’t kill them in the womb,” Kaur’s mother told ANI.
She pointed out that Harmanpreet’s father had a massive role to play in the cricketer’s success. It was her father who would accompany the girl to her practice when she was a kid.

Harmanpreet Kaur manhandled the Aussie bowling attack yesterday when the two giants met in the mega semi-final clash. The batsman’s dazzling 171 run knock was a treat to watch for the Indian fans all over the world as the batsman rode the country to a total of 281 runs. However, Harmanpreet took just 115 balls to reach the staggering score and remained unbeaten till the end. She dispatched 7 maximums and 20 boundaries in the inning of her life.
Chasing a mammoth total of 281 runs the Australians fell 36 runs short of the target. Australia batsmen Alex Blackwell (90) and Ellyse Villani (75) tried their best with the bat but failed to take their team home.
