Harsha Bhogle answers question on Amitabh Bachchan controversy
Amitabh Bachchan's tweet last year was believed to be the reason for Harsha's ousting from the commentary box
Early in 2016, much conjecture was made when Harsha Bhogle was removed from his usual post as a leading commentator for international matches. Speculation was rife that a tweet made by the eminent veteran, Mr. Amitabh Bachchan was a leading reason behind the ousting. Recently, Harsha Bhogle retorted to a troll tweet with utmost dignity.
When asked on Twitter with a sense of sarcasm, that if Harsha Bhogle detested Amitabh Bachchan the most on this planet, Bhogle replied poignantly, saying that he holds Mr. Bachchan in the highest regard. He clarified that he bears no malice against the Bollywood superstar and regarded the question directed at him as “unfortunate”.
Bhogle-Bachchan controversy
It was during an India-Bangladesh match in 2016 that the trouble emerged. Bachchan took to Twitter to express his displeasure towards Indian commentators not praising the Indian players’ efforts enough but were being rather too critical.
It instantly caused a storm on the social media, which was divided into two segments; one in complete favour of the actor while the rest clamoured for cricket commentary to be best left to the cricketing experts.
Bhogle’s dignified reply
Recently, an attempted troll was made on Twitter with Harsha Bhogle being asked, “Who do you hate the most on this planet and why is it Amitabh Bachchan?” To this, Mr Bhogle, who has been an exemplary cricket analyst, commentator and expert for over a decade, replied with extreme composure.
He commented that he has “enormous respect for what Mr. Bachchan has achieved” and that he’s told the latter so on the occasions they’ve interacted. He further elaborated, that even though people might not believe it, there was actually nobody that he hated.
Bhogle to commentate in the upcoming India-Windies tour
After over a year of conspicuous absence from world cricket commentary, barring the Indian Premier League (IPL) where he had appeared as an expert on some matches, Harsha Bhogle is all set to return to commentating ways in India’s upcoming tour to West Indies. Bhogle took to Twitter himself to share the news with the followers. The India-West Indies tour commences from the 23rd of June, 2017.
