Royal Challengers Bangalore’s campaign has been dismal in this edition of the IPL. Currently, the Royal Challengers, who have been perennial challengers in every edition of the IPL, are languishing at the bottom of the IPL table. Having played five matches, Royal Challengers could only manage one victory against Delhi Daredevils, which they almost gave away after batting heroics from Rishab Pant.
In yesterday’s match as well, much to the disappointment of Kohli, the team gave its match away to the Rising Pune Supergiant without much fight and replaced them in the bottom of the table. Royal Challengers could only manage 134 by almost getting bundled out in their allotted 20 overs, in pursuit of the 161 runs set by RPSG. Their bowlers also could not capitalize on the window of opportunity presented to them by the RPSG batsmen after they lost 5 wickets for 3 runs.
Harsha Bhogle seemed totally baffled after witnessing the Bangalore side perform in this edition of the IPL. Prior to the start of the IPL, Bhogle claimed that “if this is not the season for RCB, when will it be”. Following RCB’s sombre form in the tournament, Harsha Bhogle tweeted by saying,”A couple of weeks before the #IPL, I thought this was #RCB’s best chance to win it. Who could have imagined so many things would change!”

It not all gloom and bleak for RCB in the tournament though. One must remember that there are nine more matches to go for Bangalore in the tournament. In IPL 2016, RCB faced a situation where they had to win all four of their remaining matches to qualify for the playoffs and they achieved the feat with the help of heroics from the likes of Kohli and AB de Villiers. It is too soon to write any team off in the IPL and especially a team of RCB’s calibre.
