Harsha Bhogle shuts down a social media troll with a befitting reply
A Twitter user tried to correct Harsha's pronunciation.
It is a known fact to the cricket community that Harsha Bhogle is one of the most loved commentators in India, if not in the world. Time and again we have seen a public outrage when a person or an institution has taken stern action against him. Known for his vast knowledge about the game, it is very much expected that his fans would shut anyone down who tries to prove against it, something which happened today (September 24) when a Twitter user tried to make fun of him.
Harsha had been commentating on the ongoing series between India and Australia. The men in blue sealed the series today with a thumping, and once again the man of the hour was Hardik Pandya. Electric in the field, cunning with the ball and elegant with the bat, the Australians are finding it tough to deal with him. While the rest of the Indian cricket loyalists were celebrating the victory, a Twitter user named Helio had a different concern. His Twitter bio reads “I’m watching everything.”, something which was proved today.
He was disgusted with Bhogle way of pronouncing the word ‘Pandya’. Hence, he took to Twitter to write “@bhogleharsha Dude man. As an Indian, u shud know how to say Indian names right. It’s Paandya not Pandya. Pls it’s f**ing annoying 2 da ear.” Well, he was simply unaware of the fact that ‘Pandya’s pronunciation in Hindi (Pandya’s spelling in Hindi- पंड्या, and not पांड्या) is not at all different from its pronunciation in English.
Harsha’s reply
In his reply, Bhogle wrote, “Does anyone want to tell this poor fellow he might need to be corrected?” This was enough to trigger his fans who came in huge numbers to teach Helio a lesson. While some laughed at his number of followers, which happens to be nil, the others exclaimed their joy of listening to Bhogle while enjoying the match.
