Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) pacer Harshal Patel turned out to be the hero for the Virat Kohli led side with the ball in hand against the Mumbai Indians (MI) outfit on 26th September 2021. The right-arm pacer scalped a sensational hat trick in the 17th over to turn the match on its head.
And, West Indian cricketer Carlos Brathwaite heaped praises on the RCB pacer. Adding that he liked the bravery Patel displayed, Brathwaite drew parallels between Patel and CSK all-rounder Dwayne Bravo.
Brathwaite lauded Patel for the way he gets the ball to dip in and how his quick arm speed makes it difficult for the batsman to face up to him.
“He has some skills, what I love is how brave he was. He went for the slower, wide yorker and almost reminded me of Dwayne Bravo three years ago. The way he got the ball to come out of his hand, quick arm speed and then got the ball to dip, and obviously Hardik Pandya was not up to full match rhythm, and lofting one and being caught,” said Brathwaite in a chat with ESPN Cricinfo.
Kieron Pollard’s wicket was the most beautiful one: Carlos Brathwaite
Carlos Brathwaite continued to lavish praises on Harshal Patel. The 33-year-old reckoned that Kieron Pollard’s wicket was the most ‘beautiful one’ taken by Patel in the match against Mumbai. Brathwaite lauded Patel for the way he got rid of Pollard by going for a slower yorker, and concluded by stating that the RCB pacer should get full marks for the bravery he displayed with the ball in hand against the Mumbai side.
“And, Pollard’s wicket was the most beautiful of the three wickets in my opinion. I don’t want to be predictable again, keep the same field, and I am still going to bowl a slower ball, not a wide yorker, and I am going to hit leg stump. You must give Harshal Patel 10 out of 10 for bravery and execution,” concluded Carlos Brathwaite.
Harshal Patel is currently the highest wicket-taker in IPL 2021 and has scalped 23 wickets in 10 matches at an average of 13.57.
