Pakistan’s latest bowling sensation; Hasan Ali praised the PCB and the organizers for making the Independence Cup a reality. International cricket had stalled in the country after the brutal attack on the Sri Lankan team in March 2009. The PCB tried everything to bring cricket back in the nation and finally succeeded when the ICC agreed to send a World XI to Pakistan.

Hasan Ali, who was the Man of the Series in the ICC Champions Trophy, went for runs yesterday but bowled a great yorker which floored Sammy in the last over of the match. He has a lot of quality and bends his back whenever he is handed the ball. Hasan admitted that there was pressure as they were playing in front of their home crowd.

“There was a bit of pressure in yesterday’s match because we were playing in front of our home crowd and against World XI. But we had a great game, everyone was in good form and the crowd enjoyed a lot. We are all glad that cricket has returned to Pakistan,” said Hasan speaking to Dawn News.

Sammy happy with the security

Pakistan secured a 20-run win last night in a historic game at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. The 3-match series will be concluded on Friday and is seen as a stepping stone in restoring international cricket in the country. Darren Sammy, the 2-time World T20 Champion, was satisfied with the level of security offered to his team. He vowed to fight back in the series after the loss on Tuesday. The 33-year old applauded the home side for playing good cricket on the day in a conversation with Dawn News. The Sri Lankan team must be watching the proceedings in Lahore very closely as they are scheduled to tour the country shortly. The Sri Lankan team must be watching the proceedings in Lahore very closely as they are scheduled to tour the country shortly. With the way things stand, PCB has pulled out a master piece by inviting a World XI to tour the country. This tour will pave the way for other teams to form a judgment about the high level of security offered to the cricketers.
