After a spectacular show in the first two editions of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), the objective will be to intensify the rivalries and produce enthralling contests in the upcoming season of the tournament. However, the Peshawar Zalmi franchise has suffered a huge blow as their lead bowler Hasan Ali has some injury concerns and might be forced to miss some part of the tournament.

Hasan injured his ankle during a practice session before the final T20I match against the Kiwis on the tour to New Zealand and was subsequently ruled out of the crucial encounter. After the match that Pakistan won and with that also the T20I series, the team management revealed that their fast bowler had sustained an injury during the training sessions and failed to make it to the game.

According to the reports, the doctors have advised him a four-week rest and could be missing out on some of part of the upcoming edition of the PSL, which will begin from February 22.

Swelling in the ankle ligaments

The Pakistani team physiotherapist Vib Singh stated that during the assessment and evaluation, the bowler showed some serious signs of swelling and tenderness across the lateral ankle ligaments. The medical team will have a better understanding of this situation when the swelling reduces to a certain extent.

In the current situation, Hasan’s ankle will be immobilized and managed conservatively to prevent it from further damage.

“On assessment he showed signs of swelling and tenderness across the lateral ankle ligaments. Once the swelling reduces, it will give us a better indication as to the extent of the injury. For now we will immobilize the ankle and manage it conservatively to prevent it from further being exacerbated,” Singh said as quoted by Business Recorder.
