Hashim Amla withdraws from CSA T20 Challenge
Hashim Amla released a statement.
In order to regain his best form and ‘fine tune’ his batting, veteran South Africa star Hashim Amla has decided to skip the fag end of the ongoing CSA T20 Challenge. The right-handed batsman has announced that he will not be playing for the Cobras in the remaining CSA T20 Challenge fixtures. Amla’s form has shown little sign of improvement even in the domestic circuit. In 8 matches so far, the Cobras star has managed just a paltry 92 runs.
In fact, Amla has been looking off-color with the bat for quite some time now. It would not be entirely wrong to say that he was fortunate to make it to South Africa’s World Cup squad ahead of Reeza Hendricks. The top-order batsman started this season in dreadful form, averaging just 10.14 with the bat with two ducks in seven innings for Durban Heat in the Mzansi Super League.
Such was his form that he was even dropped at one stage. An ODI century against Pakistan then gave him some much-needed respite before he struggled again in the domestic circuit. To make to get over his dismal form ahead of the World Cup, Amla has now decided to end his stint with Cobras ahead of the all-important tournament in England. Amla, in a statement, confirmed his news as he said he wants to make the most of the time before the World Cup by fine-tuning his batting.
Hashim Amla’s statement
“I have opted not to make myself available for selection for the World Sports Betting Cape Cobras for the remainder of the CSA T20 Challenge. I express my sincere gratitude to the Cobras coaching staff and team for the game time over the last 3 weeks, given the circumstances. Ultimately, I want to use the remaining time before the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup to fine tune my batting and prepare for the tournament.”
