‘Have no relation with him from here on’ – Harbhajan Singh bashes Shahid Afridi over his controversial remarks against India

Harbhajan Singh, the veteran Indian cricketer, has lashed out at former Pakistan all-rounder Shahid Afridi for the latter’s indifferent remarks against India. In a video doing the rounds on the social media platforms, the 39-year Afridi was seen, severely criticising Honourable Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his visit to the Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK).

Recently Harbhajan along with Yuvraj Singh contributed to the Shahid Afridi Foundation for the ones affected in the coronavirus pandemic. Due to their steps, they were greeted with brickbats as well. The 39-year-old Harbhajan couldn’t stand the fact that Afridi has been spewing venom on India.

Harbhajan didn’t mince any words in saying that Afridi should be focussed more on his country and stay in his limits. He also pledged to cut all connections with Afridi over the latter’s controversial remarks in the critical situation.

“This is very upsetting what Shahid Afridi has come up with, talking ill about our country and our Prime Minister. This is just not acceptable. To be honest, he (Afridi) asked us to make an appeal for his charity. In good faith, we did it for humanity and for the people suffering due to the Coronavirus,” Harbhajan was quoted as saying in India Today.

“This man (Afridi) is talking ill about our country. All I have to say is we have nothing to do with Shahid Afridi. He has no right to speak ill against our country and he should stay in his country and limits,” the Turbanator stated.

“One person asks me to make an appeal for the sake of humanity, and I did my bit. That was it. I have no relation or tie-up with any Shahid Afridi from here on,” he added.

Harbhajan also said that having played for India for over 20 years, no one can say that he has done any bad for his country. Afridi also received backlash from Gautam Gambhir for the unruly comments. The duo has been at loggerheads for quite a while. Previously Afridi called him a person, devoid of character to which Gambhir hit back severely.
