‘Having Anushka and Vamika around is enough for me’ – Virat Kohli on his birthday celebration after India’s victory over Scotland

Virat Kohli, on Friday, turned 33 years old and he made his birthday a memorable one after leading India to a thumping eight-wicket triumph over Scotland at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. With the victory in the Super 12 match on November 5, the Men in Blue also kept alive their hopes of qualifying for the semi-final of the ongoing T20 World Cup.

The Delhi-born also talked about how grateful he was for having his wife Anushka Sharma and daughter Vamika by his side on the auspicious occasion. Virat is aware of the importance of spending time with families at a time when cricketers are going through the hassles of staying in bio-secure bubbles amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.

“I think I am over that phase now. No, I mean, my family is here. Anushka and Vamika are here. That’s celebration enough for me. Just having families around in these times in bio-bubble life is very difficult. That’s a blessing in itself. The team has been amazing. Everyone wished me,” Kohli said in the post-match presentation.

Kohli didn’t have to do a lot against Scotland as he came to bat when India needed 16 runs to win off 15 overs. He picked up two singles in the two balls he faced during his brief stay as Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul did the bulk of the scoring.

As far as his birthday is concerned, the 33-year-old Anushka, his beloved life-partner, dropped in a heartfelt message on social media. Later, while replying to his wife’s post, Kohli called her his “strength” and “guiding force”

Anushka wrote, “Your core is made of honesty and guts of steel. Courage that pales doubt into oblivion. I know no one who can pick themselves up from a dark place like you can. You grow better in every way because you hold on to nothing in you as permanent and are fearless. I know we are not ones to talk to each other through social media like this but sometimes I just want to scream and tell the world what an amazing man you are. Thank you for making everything brighter and more beautiful. Oh, and Happy Birthday cuteness!!”
