Danielle Wyatt, the England women’s cricketer, talked about how he met Sachin Tendulkar’s family and her interactions with Arjun, Sachin’s son. Wyatt shares a healthy camaraderie with Arjun. Back in 2018, she was spotted at a restaurant with him at a time when India was in England for a bilateral series. On quite a few instances, Wyatt has also playfully trolled the youngster.
It was around a decade ago when the duo first met. Wyatt said that Arjun was short in stature and she approached him for a conversation during a net-session. The 29-year-old remembers bowling to Arjun and was pretty impressed with his prowess.
“So, I first met Sachin and Arjun at Lord’s. Maybe 2009 or 2010 when I was with MCC young cricketers and they were training in the nets. Literally I went to the nets and said hello and introduced myself saying I am Danni etc. Arjun would have been 10 years old back then, he was so small. I bowled to him that day, he was very good,” Wyatt told to cricket.com.
Arjun is getting too dangerous to face: Danielle Wyatt
Wyatt said that Arjun has gotten faster with age and the latter once, light-heartedly, told that he will knock her head off with bouncers. Wyatt also remembers meeting Sachin during the Women’s T20 World Cup in Australia earlier this year. Moreover, she had words of praises for Anjali Tendulkar, Sachin’s spouse.
“Since then whenever I bump into Sachin or Arjun or whenever they come to Lord’s to train, I go to the nets and ask him (Arjun) to bowl with the new ball to me. But he is getting very quick now. He always says I will bounce you and knock your head off so I don’t like him bowling to me anymore. He is getting too dangerous to face,” she said.
“They are a lovely family. Arjun’s mom is also lovely. Recently, I bumped into Sachin in Australia during the World Cup,” Wyatt added.
Wyatt last played in the T20 World Cup itself, but didn’t have the greatest of times. Her highest score of 29 came against West Indies Women at the Sydney Showground Stadium. She has a couple of centuries in T20Is, one of which was against India in March 2018 at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai.
