'He could have had compatibility issues' - Salman Butt opens up on the contrasting personalities of Rahul Dravid and Virat Kohli
Salman Butt reasoned that Dravid is a composed personality whereas Kohli is aggressive in nature.
Virat Kohli stepped down as the skipper of the Indian Test side after the three-match Test series against South Africa. And now, former Pakistan cricketer Salman Butt has opened up on what he thinks about Kohli’s decision to step down.
Butt opined that there might have been some sort of compatibility issue between Kohli and head coach Rahul Dravid. Butt further reasoned that Dravid is a composed personality whereas Kohli is aggressive. Butt also added that Kohli got along well with Ravi Shastri as both of them are similar personalities.
“There could have been a compatibility issue. Rahul Dravid remains composed most of the time, whereas Kohli is an aggressive campaigner. On the other hand, Kohli’s partnership with Ravi Shastri proved to be a hit because of their similar personalities,” said Salman Butt while speaking on his YouTube channel.
Everybody had good things to say about Virat Kohli: Salman Butt
Salman Butt also added that right from the President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to his teammates, everyone said nice things about Kohli.
“Everyone from Sourav Ganguly to his teammates had good things to say about Kohli. This means that he was fantastic at his job, which is why they have already started missing him,” added Butt.
Salman Butt added that Rohit Sharma is a wonderful leader but opined that the only thing that might work against the ‘Hitman’ are his fitness issues.
“Rohit Sharma is having fitness issues. This is why many fans are backing KL Rahul for the post, as you cannot have a skipper who is injury prone. Otherwise, Rohit is a wonderful pick, and he is a proven leader. I feel Rohit still should be the ideal choice and a younger player could be handed the vice-captaincy,” concluded Salman Butt.
The Indian cricket team will next be seen on the field on 19th January 2022 when they clash against the South African side in the 1st ODI at Paarl.
