India woke up to the saddest news of year on Tuesday. Bollywood’s one of the finest actors Irrfan Khan passed away on Wednesday after being admitted to Mumbai’s Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital only a day ago for colon infection. As soon as the news broke out, social media was filled with condolences to the actor’s family even as many remembered his plethora of exceptional performances on the silver screen.

The cricketing fraternity also paid its tribute to Irrfan Khan after his demise and the latest to join the bandwagon is the Indian captain Virat Kohli. He was extremely sad after knowing about the passing away of the legendary actor and showered praises on him for being the most versatile actor in the industry.

“Saddened to hear about the passing of Irrfan Khan. What a phenomenal talent and dearly touched everyone’s heart with his versatility. May god give peace to his soul,” Virat Kohli’s tweet read.

Angrezi Medium turned out to be Irrfan Khan’s last movie which released only in last month and unfortunately suffered due to the ongoing pandemic. Soon after its release, the government ordered to shut down the theatres and the malls which led to the film recently releasing on OTT platforms. Many celebrities and cricketers had hailed Irrfan for his work in the movie.

Meanwhile, Sachin Tendulkar and India coach Ravi Shastri have also paid their tribute after the actor’s demise. The former called him an effortless actor and also stated that he has watched all the movies he acted in. “Sad to hear the news of #IrrfanKhan passing away. He was one of my favorites & I’ve watched almost all his films, the last one being Angrezi Medium. Acting came so effortlessly to him, he was just terrific. May his soul Rest In Peace. Condolences to his loved ones,” his tweet read.

Ravi Shastri, meanwhile, felt that India lost a precocious talent and artist with Irrfan Khan passing away at the age of 53. “Saddened to hear about the sudden demise of #IrrfanKhan This is such a tragedy in these trying times. #India has lost an exceptional artist and talent. My thoughts are with his family and dear ones. RIP Irrfan,” Shastri wrote in a tweet.
