The England-India second Test match is underway and it has been quite an eventful affair so far. After wrapping up the hosts at 391 on day three, the Indian openers walked to the field on day four aiming to rewrite the script of providing a solid start. In the first Test, Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul put up an impressive show as they provided a flying start to the team. In the first innings of the second Test as well, both of them strengthened the side.

However in the second innings, Mark Wood chimed in the scenario this time around as he sent both the openers back to the pavilion. Skipper Joe Root’s decision to bring Wood early in the attack paid off well for the hosts. He first picked up the wicket of Rahul as he could add only five runs to his account. Soon, Wood struck again to make sure Rohit walks back to the hut as well.

Wood bowled a short delivery and Sharma could not resist himself from playing the pull shot. The batter, however, got quite early to play the shot as it went towards the deep square leg. Moeen Ali made no mistake as he ran and completed a good catch. Sharma losing his wicket yet again whilst playing his signature shot became a point of discussion for the fans.

Here’s how Twitter reacted to Rohit Sharma’s dismissal:

In the first Test match, the Indian openers stitched a stand of 97 runs. Sharma scored 36 runs whereas KL Rahul smashed an impressive 84. However in the first Test as well, Rohit Sharma had looked to pull off Robinson’s delivery but lost control over the shot as it was top-edged and was caught by Sam Curran at the fine leg.

About the ongoing match, after losing both the openers, the middle order will now have a huge responsibility on their shoulders to take the innings forward and hold the fort of the team. A strong lead would be necessary for India to pose a challenge to the hosts. It would be fascinating to watch how the action unfolds at the Lord’s now.
