Former Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar turns 49 today and wishes had poured in for him from various parts of the cricketing world. Tendulkar has made immense contributions to Indian cricket that cannot be measured and he is regarded as one of the best batters, the game has ever seen. The right-hander is still the highest run-getter in Tests and ODIs despite his retirement in 2013 and has been one of the most celebrated cricketers in the country for a long time now.

While many have talked about Tendulkar’s international career, he also was a brilliant T20 player for the Mumbai Indians from the inaugural edition of 2008 to 2013. He accumulated 2334 runs in 78 IPL games for the franchise at an average of 33.83 and a strike rate close to 120. His best season came in 2010 when he was unstoppable across formats and managed to win the Orange Cap in IPL as well with 618 runs at an average of 47.53 and a strike rate of 132.61.

Despite his retirement from all forms of the game, Tendulkar has always been with the Mumbai Indians set up as a mentor and helped the franchise to become the most successful in the tournament history with five titles under their belt. He was also seen currently working with the youngsters in the Mumbai Indians franchise and provides a lot of great insights as well.

On the special occasion for Tendulkar, the official Mumbai Indians Twitter handle posted a video of the youngsters in the dressing room sharing their experience of first catching up with the legend. The likes of Dewald Brevis, Hrithik Shordeen, and Aryan Juval all revealed how grateful they were to be mentored by Tendulkar and explained their goosebumps moments as well.

Tendulkar has always been etched in the memories of the Indian cricket fans as he proved to be an inspiration to many young aspiring cricketers who wanted to take up the game.
