In a shocking piece of news for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) fans, MS Dhoni has been reappointed as the skipper of the Yellow Army. It may be noted that all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja was appointed as the CSK skipper ahead of the season. However, he has decided to relinquish the leadership duties to Captain Cool mid-season.
Dhoni who has been with the Yellow Army right from season one has decided to take back the charge of the team in the larger interest of the side. At present, CSK is placed second last in the points table with just two wins in eight matches. The Yellow Army has successfully managed to beat the five-time champions Mumbai Indians and the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).

Talking about his numbers as captain, Dhoni has led CSK in 213 matches including IPL and now-defunct Champions League. The Yellow Army has won 130 and suffered 81 losses with two matches ending in no result under his leadership skills. The former Indian skipper has won a record six titles spanning two competitions four at the IPL and two at the CLT20.
Talking about Dhoni’s numbers in IPL, the wicket-batter has played 228 matches in which he has amassed a total of 4878 runs at an average of almost 40. Dhoni plays at a strike rate of 135.76 and has also stroked 24 fifties in the tournament. Over the years, the legendary batter has entertained the cricket fans with some of the most memorable performances both in IPL and for India as well.
However, Dhoni returning as CSK skipper will have his task cut out as they will face a strong-looking opponent in form of the Sunrisers Hyderabad in their next group stage encounter. The match will be played at the Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA) Stadium, Pune on May 1 (Sunday). It remains to be seen if the defending champions can win their remaining matches of the IPL under the leadership of their skipper MS Dhoni.
