Indian skipper Virat Kohli is celebrating his 33rd birthday today. And, for once, the coin obeyed Kohli’s command on his birthday, and the cricket legend decided to bowl first against Scotland.
Virat Kohli and the toss have not had a positive relationship in the 2021 edition of the T20 World Cup. In fact, this is the first time in 4 attempts that Kohli has managed to get the call at the toss right.
The Indian skipper admitted that he has won his first toss on his birthday, and added jokingly that India should have played their first match of the tournament on his birthday. Kohli also revealed that India would like to keep the intensity high throughout the match.
“We are going to bowl first. Dew is going to be a big factor. Try and restrict them and chase it down. Winning my first toss on my birthday, probably we should have played the first game on my birthday. The intensity from ball one is important. For us, it’s just about keeping that intensity on for 20 overs. That’s something we expect from people. Shardul makes way for Varun – third spinner,” said Virat Kohli at the toss.
