'He started saying stuff that I really don’t want to repeat' - Kesrick Williams recalls his banter with Virat Kohli on India tour in 2019

West Indies pacer Kesrick Williams recently opened on his state of cold war with Indian skipper Virat Kohli. Williams has been constantly pointing Kohli after the latter dominated his bowling attack heavily while West Indies visited India towards the end of 2019. Right when he hit the pace bowler for a huge six, the Indian skipper started Williams’ notebook celebration to give him a taste of his own medicine. He did it to avenge what happened with him back in 2017.

It was in 2017 when the Caribbean pacer came with this kind of celebration after dismissing the ace batsman during the series on West Indies soil. The duo met after quite a while, and the pacer has come up with his side of the story. It all started during the first T20I between the two nations in 2019 when Virat Kohli outclassed the opponents while chasing a target of 208.

“In the first game, when Kohli walked in to bat, he walked straight to me, and he was like, ‘Hey, you got me in Jamaica the last time you bowled against me, it’s not going to happen here’. I was like this thing happened in 2017, this is 2019, this guy really studied this thing? I was like I can’t believe this guy,” Kesrick told Firstpost.

The Caribbean further stated that Virat Kohli went mad on him from that very point and started doing gestures intentionally. The pacer even told that he didn’t do spitefully, but Kohli never stopped in his actions.

“He started saying stuff that I really don’t want to repeat. He started saying all sorts (of things), I am like ‘Yo mate, can you just back (off)’. I was walking back, and he was at the non-striker’s end, and he’s like ‘This is not going to happen today, I am not going to make you get me out today, never, never you are going to get me out today’. I am like, ‘mate, can you just zip your mouth and bat? Just bat, just play the game, and please leave me alone.”

The 30-year-old pacer also came up with the fact that Virat Kohli didn’t even spare him on the flight while they were travelling from Hyderabad to Kerala for the following match. The banter continued between the duo and even after dismissing the Indian captain in the second T20I, Williams was at the receiving end most of the times.
