Rashid Khan emerged on the international scene in 2015 and his career soared in no time. Combining his pace, googly and variation, Rashid quickly paved his way to becoming one of the best in the world. A teenage Rashid steered Afghanistan cricket to new heights and became a household name in no time.

Rashid’s unique bowling trait also earned him an IPL contract and he dazzled on the Indian soil too while donning the Sunrisers Hyderabad jersey. Rashid, as well as Afghanistan cricket, have come a long way in recent times. From being ‘underdogs’ to ‘dark horses’, Afghanistan possess the ability to stun any opposition, especially in the shortest format of the game.

Being a central figure in Afghanistan’s journey in the modern era, Rashid has recently stated that he will get married once he lifts the World Cup with the national side. “I will get engaged & married once Afghanistan win the cricket world,” said Rashid in an interview with Azadi Radio.

Rashid Khan was last seen in action against Ireland

Rashid is currently is ranked No.1 in ICC T20I bowlers rankings with 749 points. In a career spanning over 7 Tests, 67 ODIs and 48 T20Is, Rashid has picked 23, 133 and 89 wickets respectively for Afghanistan. His last international expedition was the T20I series against Ireland, where he picked five wickets in three matches.

Prior to Ireland T20Is, Rashid was seen in action in the Big Bash League. While donning the Adelaide Strikers jersey, Rashid also flaunted his batting potential by smashing an 18-ball 40 in a match against Sydney Thunder at Adelaide Over.

Rashid was all set to don the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) jersey in the thirteenth edition of the IPL before the tournament got postponed in the wake of COVID-19 debacle. In 46 matches of his IPL career, Rashid has plucked 55 wickets with best figures of 3/19. Former SRH head coach had also recently heaped praise on Rashid, saying that the leg-spinner had impressed everyone in his first training session itself.

There’s no doubt over Rashid’s potential and bowling expertise but his comment about getting married after Afghanistan wins the World Cup left many fans in splits. Many fans even termed Rashid a ‘fan of Salman Khan’ for his statement.
