Heinrich Klaasen forayed into international cricket during the ODI series of India’s tour of South Africa. He played some blistering knocks in the ODI as well as the T20 series, and subsequently, emerged as a dynamic prospect for South African cricket. During the series, he was also crowned as the Player of the Match during the Proteas’ win over Virat Kohli’s men in the Pink ODI at the Wanderers in Johannesburg.
The joy multiplied for the Pretoria-born cricketer as he was drafted into South Africa’s squad for their ongoing Test series against Australia. However, he was included in the first couple of games in Durban and Port Elizabeth. Recently, the Proteas team management decided to release him ahead of their ongoing Test match at the Newlands in Cape Town.
Titans vs Knights for Klaasen
Klaasen is currently representing the Titans against the Knights at the SuperSport Park in Centurion which has started today. It is also the last league match for both teams. The Titans are currently placed in the third spot in the table with 121 points in nine games and Klassen’s inclusion is expected to boost their batting lineup to a significant extent.
Meanwhile, South Africa has also released Duanne Olivier and Chris Morris from their squad who will join their respective franchises in the domestic competition. The tournament is into its last leg and teams are looking to outclass each other to the top of the table. Lungi Ngidi and Theunis de Bruyn aren’t a part of the third Test, however, will stay with the team in Cape Town.
For the time being, the spotlight is on the third Test between South Africa and Australia. The opening Test was comprehensively won by Steve Smith’s men. However, the Proteas stormed back to win at Port Elizabeth. Both teams will now be looking to win the game and take an unassailable lead in the four-match series in the Rainbow nation.
