Helmet initiative of Sachin Tendulkar gets mixed response on social media

Former Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar has been spreading the awareness regarding the traffic safety in the recent times. A few months ago, a video of the former cricketer asking a pillion rider to wear the helmet had gone viral. Now, Sachin, in his new initiative with the hashtag ‘helmetdaalo2point0’ is asking the riders to use the helmets. He recently shared another video on his social media handle to spread the awareness about the same.

He was seen asking two riders to ensure that both the rider, and the pillion rider, used helmets. He mentioned that he finds it absolutely mindless to see the pillion rider not wearing the helmet. He was heard saying this in the video that he shot whilst driving in his car on the streets of Kerala.

“Why should only the rider be wearing helmet? The two women I spotted at the back, both of them are not wearing any helmet. Doesn’t make any sense to me. Please wear a helmet whenever you go on a bike. Let them come here. I am going to again tell them. This is what I am saying. You should be wearing a helmet even if you are sitting behind because if the rider can get injured, the pillion can as well,” Sachin Tendulkar was heard saying in the video.

The video was posted on the social media handles of Sachin Tendulkar and he urged the public to follow traffic safety. He posted another update, this time from Bengaluru, where he saw the rider and the pillion rider wearing helmets. He certainly was very pleased to see that.

Mixed Reactions

While the noble initiative is certainly for the benefit of the common man, Tendulkar ended up getting trolled by a few on the social media. Some users pointed out that he was not wearing the seatbelt in the video.

In a very prompt response for the same, Sachin posted another picture in which he used the seatbelt in his car.

Then there were a few who were very impressed with the way Sachin Tendulkar has been promoting road safety. They also hit back at the trollers citing that this is the usual problem – when someone tries to do something good, the others try to pull him down.
