After the first Test of the two-match series between Pakistan and Bangladesh, Pakistan have jumped to the second slot in the points table. They had already dominated the hosts completely in the T20I series and went on to win the first Test by eight wickets. Though Bangladesh dominated the proceedings in the 1st innings, the guests came all guns blazing in the 2nd innings.
Abid Ali’s sheer heroics in both innings led the way for Pakistan in the first Test match. He owned the show with a stunning century in the first innings and followed it up with a sturdy knock of 91 runs for the second inninfs. It was Taijul Islam’s haul of seven wickets that kept Pakistan on the backfoot in the 1st innings.

However, young star Shaheen Afridi backed himself during the 2nd innings and assisted the quick wrap-up of hosts with his five-for. With the win, Pakistan now stands in the second slot followed by India at 3rd position. Sri Lanka are at the top of the list.
India-New Zealand 1st Test ended in a draw at Green Park, Kanpur
Talking about another scintillating Test affair, the first Test between India and New Zealand at Kanpur ended in a draw. While hosts looked very near to the winning line, debutant Rachin Ravindra kept holding on till the end to make sure that NZ doesn’t end on a losing line. India will now lock horns with New Zealand in the 2nd Test of the series to be played in Mumbai.
Talking in terms of India, Shreyas Iyer had an exceptional debut to his Test career where he smashed a century in the first innings followed by a much-needed half-century in the 2nd innings of the game. He became the first Indian to smash a century and a half-century in the debut Test. Moreover, Ravi Ashwin went past the wickets tally of Harbhajan Singh to become India’s third-highest wicket-taker in the Tests.
