Here's how MS Dhoni is leading Team India from behind the stumps
Dhoni has been instrumental in India's success.
India is currently dominating the ongoing ODI series against South Africa and have taken an unassailable lead of 3-0 after as many matches. The wrist-spinners have bamboozled all the plans of the hosts by spinning the web against them and have so far scalped 21 wickets out of 28 to fall. However, both of them are benefitting from the guidance of MS Dhoni who controls the proceedings from behind the wickets even suggesting the skipper Virat Kohli to set the fields most of the times.
Dhoni is no more the captain of India in the limited overs format and has been featuring in the team solely as the wicket-keeper batsman from January last year. But he is seen dictating the terms more often than not in the middle to help Kohli. Even the skipper himself had earlier admitted that having such a clever brain behind the wickets is always an added advantage. No wonder Dhoni has played a crucial role in the success of the Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav.
Comments caught in the stump mic
During the third ODI in Cape Town, there were a few comments which were heard clearly in the stump microphone. While the former captain MS Dhoni was seen guiding the young spinners about where to the pitch the ball and the foot movements of the batsmen, Kohli was spreading the understanding of the pitch to his teammates. Here are few of the comments of Dhoni which were heard during the match:
- ball apne aap se ghum raha hai, kuch karne ki zarurat nahi
- dekhna Miller aaj anda marega (Miller will score duck today)
- iska pair idhar gir raha hai
- cheeku fir seedha hoja (to Virat Kohli)
- do kadam peeche rehna, samne main dekhunga, badhiya… badhiya…
Dhoni is always seen making a contribution to the team’s cause and stays involved in the game. Even the likes of Chahal and Kuldeep have credited him their success so far in their careers.
