The cricket post-COVID-19 is looking different in many aspects. The fact that everything is being conducted inside a bio-secure bubble makes it all new and unique. Ever since cricket marked its resumption post-pandemic, an amusing sight is seen on the ground. Players have been witnessed wearing more than one cap while being on the field. English skipper Eoin Morgan and Aussie captain Aaron Finch were seen sporting more than one cap while they locked horns last month for limited-over series.

In fact, there were occasions when Morgan was seen wearing more than two caps, and it has left fans surprised. The same scenarios are visible in IPL 2020 too, where the captain of the side is seen wearing more than one cap particularly. The fact that fans are surprised and curious at the same time is quite visible on social media. The comments on the same topic have been doing rounds among netizens.

Here is the reason behind all of it. It is actually one of all the measures taken to keep players and support staff safe while playing in the testing times of the COVID-19 pandemic. Players were strictly prohibited to hand over their caps, sunglasses to the on-field umpires in the post COVID era. The ICC also said no to handing over their essentials to their teammates. However, players have no option while bowling, and hence, they have resorted to their skippers only.

ICC Protocols Post COVID-19

The ICC protocols for Post COVID-19 matches clearly stated no handing over of towels, caps, and sunglasses to either teammates or umpires. Minimum body contact should be displayed on the field even while celebrating after wickets. That is why we have seen players celebrating mostly while touching with their knuckles after wickets. The post COVID era has brought a huge lot of changes especially in the field of cricket.

Talking about the IPL 2020, it’s halfway there, where all the teams have at least played nine matches. Delhi Capitals are sitting on the top with seven victories in their ten games. They are followed by defending champions Mumbai Indians.
