Here's what Virat Kohli has been up to during his Asia Cup break
Kohli has enjoyed every bit of the time off the field.
Captain of Team India Virat Kohli has been enjoying some rare downtime while his side defends the Asia Cup title in the UAE. Virat was involved in a lengthy tour of England, where he led the Men in Blue to a T20I series victory. However, things didn’t go quite according to plan for his team in the ODIs and the Tests. India would have been particularly disappointed with their performance in the 5-match Test series, which they lost 1-4.
Virat himself was in top form though. Battling a back injury, the skipper amassed a staggering 593 runs in the series, which earned him a Man of the Series award. The captain has since taken a break from cricket, and is likely to be back at the helm during India’s series against the West Indies and more importantly against the Australians. But here’s what King Kohli has been up to during the last couple of weeks.
Meeting Anushka at the airport
Minutes after he touched down in Mumbai, Virat was spotted with wife and actress Anushka Sharma at the airport. A young fan also took the opportunity of presenting Virat with a collage of the duo’s photographs.
Gymming!
A few days later, the star cricketer was spotted leaving a gym in Mumbai early in the morning. Virat also posted a short video of himself right after a running workout where he mentioned how much he enjoyed running outdoors.
Ad shoots with Anushka
Meanwhile, Kohli has also been busy filming advertisements with none other than his wife Anushka. The duo was filming for a commercial in Mumbai’s Film City, and although the ad hasn’t been released yet, it involves lots of dogs!
The Khel Ratna
And last but not the least, the captain was conferred with the country’s highest sporting honour – the Khel Ratna. Virat Kohli travelled to the Rashtrapati Bhavan to receive the award from President Ram Nath Kovind. He was accompanied by the two most important women in his life – his mother Saroj and his wife Anushka. Indian weightlifter Mirabai Chanu was the other recipient of the award.
