After warming the benches in the initial half of IPL 2022, Rinku Singh was given the opportunity and the southpaw is making most of his chances. On Monday (May 2), the southpaw played a stellar against Rajasthan Royals as Kolkata Knight Riders’ five-match losing streak came to an end. Rinku scored an unbeaten 42 off just 23 balls as KKR won the contest by seven wickets and the 24-year-old was named the Player of the Match.

Needless to mention, KKR players were delighted with the outcome as they had some fun after the game. In a video shared on the franchise’s official Twitter page, KKR skipper Shreyas Iyer can be seen having a hilarious conversation with Rinku. He apparently was ‘training’ the southpaw for his post-match speeches in the future. While the left-handed batter wasn’t keen, Shreyas insisted him to answer in English.

Rinku even tried to escape but Shreyas didn’t let him to do so. On being asked about his mindset and approach, an animated Rinku said: “I am going to batting with Nitish Rana (laughs). He’s tell me calm, calm and finish the game.” The clip of the same went viral in no time as fans were highly entertained with the KKR duo’s antics.

It must be noted that Rana was also instrumental in taking KKR over the line. After both KKR openers perished cheaply, the ship was steadied by skipper Shreyas and Rana before the former was dismissed for 34. However, Rana continued the good work with Rinku and the duo took the Knight Riders over the line. Notably, the senior pro took the backseat and played the anchor role while Rinku was given the license to smash hard.

The duo paced their respective innings to perfection as the two-time champions chased down 153 with five balls to spare. Meanwhile, KKR now have four victories in 10 games and they must win all of their four remaining matches to stay alive in the playoff race.
