'Hey Marnus! How do I pronounce your last name?' - Pakistan fan's query for Labuschagne in Rawalpindi Test
Marnus Labuschagne had a message from one of his fans on Day 3 of the 1st Test
The ongoing first Test match between Pakistan and Australia has turned out to be an absolute run-feast with both teams making merry of what seems to be a flat wicket at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. After the hosts made the Pat Cummins-led side toil hard for wickets, having won the toss and elected to bat first, it was the Aussies’ turn to make an impact on the 22 yards.
Amid the cricketing action, there were also a few standout moments in this Test match as well. One of which included David Warner shaking a leg to entertain the spectators. The other moment, however, came from the stands where a die-hard fan of the game gave a special mention to the Australian Test sensation Marnus Labuschagne.
Marnus Labuschagne gets a special request from a fan
On Day 3 of the opening Test, a fan seated among the spectators was clicked holding a poster urging the batting star to help in pronouncing his last name ‘Labuschagne’ correctly. The message read as, “Hey Marnus! How do I pronounce your last name? The video on cricket.com.au didn’t help!” The message went viral on social media in no time and even Cricket.com.au went on to post the same on their official Twitter handle.

Coming back to the contest, Pakistan declared their innings, after having posted a mammoth total of 476/4 riding on spectacular centuries from opener Imam-ul-Haq and senior Test specialist Azhar Ali. Imam scored 157 runs from 358 deliveries while Ali scored 185 runs off 361 balls. Skipper Pat Cummins, offie Nathan Lyon and Marnus Labuschagne picked up one wicket each.
Australia, in reply, got off to a flying start with openers Usman Khawaja and David Warner adding 156 runs for the first wicket. While Warner was bowled by Sajid Khan for 68 which broke this strong partnership, Khawaja carried on for a while before losing his wicket just three runs short of what would have been an outstanding century.
Now, with Labuschagne and Steve Smith in the middle, the visitors would be hoping to reduce their deficit as the scorecard reads 222/2 at the tea break on Day 3.
