In a tournament like IPL, every team wants to have a good start with the bat in the initial overs of the match. It all depends on how the opening batters perform which defines the strategy of the team in the innings. If they give a good start, then the opposition can be put under pressure which can result in disruption of plans for the other team. Whereas in case of a bad start, it becomes difficult to recover from an early loss. In this article, we will be discussing the 5 highest opening partnerships in the history of IPL.

6. Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway – 182 runs

CSK were put into bat first by SRH skipper Kane Williamson after winning the toss and their openers made SRH pay from the word go. Ruturaj was unlucky to miss out on a century as he scored 99 off 57 deliveries while Conway played out the entire innings and remained unbeaten on 85 off 55 balls. Both openers added 182 runs for the first wicket creating a record.
