This partnership took place on 24th February, 2015 at Canberra in the Group stage match between Zimbabwe and West Indies. West Indies, opting to bat first, lost their first wicket right in the second delivery of the innings. It was Gayle and Samuels who took up the charge and scored a record breaking partnership. Gayle went onto score 215 runs off 147 deliveries with 10 fours and 16 sixes. That was the first double ton in a World Cup match. Samuels, on the other hand complimented Gayle well and remained unbeaten on 133 runs off 156 deliveries with 11 fours and 3 sixes. West Indies won the match by 73 runs as per the D/L method.
