After losing, Jayasuriya early on in the innings, it was the blistering efforts of Jayawardene and Sangakkara which aided Sri Lanka to retain a cruise control in the game. The stand between Sangakkara and Jayasuriya has broken innumerable number of Cricketing records in all the formats of the game and scored over 10,000 runs batting together. Jayawardene remained unbeaten on 98 off 56 deliveries with 9 fours and 4 sixes while Sangakkara was dismissed for 68 off 49 with 5 fours and three sixes. Chasing down a gigantic total of 190 runs, England trembled early on in their innings by losing 2 wickets without scoring a single run. Then it was Hales and Morgan who turned up the heat in favour of England and in the process changed the course of the game. Hales played a dominant part in the partnership, as he scored an unbeaten centurion knock of 116 runs off 64 deliveries with 11 fours and 6 sixes. While, on the other hand, Morgan played his part by scoring 57 off 38 with 7 fours and 2 sixes. South Africa posted a target of 205 runs but Australia looked in definite spots of bother on losing 3 wickets for 32 runs in 5.4 overs. Then came in the dependable partnership between David Warner and Glenn Maxwell to take Australia over the winning line in a nail-biter. Warner scored 77 off 40 balls & Maxwell added 75 off 43 balls. Australia won the match by 5 wickets. 5th Wicket: Shoaib Malik and Misbah-ul-Haq, 119*: Shoaib Malik and Misbah-ul-Haq, 119* runs. Chasing down a huge total of 165 runs, Pakistan top order crumbled and lost 4 wickets for 46 runs. Things started looking out of reach for them when Shoaib Malik and Misbah settled the nerves for them and eventually took Pakistan to victory. Malik scored an unbeaten 52 off 38 while Misbah struck remained unbeaten on 66 off 42 with 7 fours and a six. Batting first, the Aussies lost wickets at regular intervals and their score stood as 67 for 5 after 11 overs when these two set in for a partnership which ultimately proved to be the match winning one. White remained unbeaten at a score of 85 runs off 49 deliveries with 6 fours and 6 sixes while Hussey played the anchor role in it with 39 runs off 26 deliveries. Chasing down a mountain-alike total of 209 runs, England looked in definite spots of bother right from the start. But it was the 7th wicket partnership which gave them some hope but couldn’t manage them to guide past the winning line. Collingwood scored a blistering knock of 79 runs of 41 deliveries with 6 fours and 5 sixes, while Yardy remained unbeaten on 23 off 18. 8th Wicket: Preston Mommsen and Safyaan Sharif, 80: PL Mommsen, SM Sharif. After Netherland had made 191 in the stipulated 20 overs, Scotland were in trouble having lost 7 wickets for just 79. That is when Mommsen and Sharif combined to script a fightback. Mommsen was the aggresor scoring 68 and looked sublime while Sharif who made 26 proved an able partner for him. Though the Scottish boys lost the match by 32 runs this partnership was one of the highlights of the game. 9th Wicket: Dwayne Bravo and Jerome Taylor, 66: Dwayne Bravo. Batting first, West Indies were in all sorts of trouble, losing 8 wickets for just 48 runs as they were on the verge of being bowled out so cheaply. However, the Windies all-rounder Dwayne Bravo and Jerome Taylor consolidated and added valuable 66 runs for the 9th wicket as they took the team total over 100. West Indies managed to post a total of 115 in the match. A target of 116 was not enough to defend against Pakistan in a decent pitch and Pakistan seal a 9-wicket victory in the match. 10th Wicket: Wahab Riaz and Shoaib Akhtar, 31*: In the first match of the T20 series against New Zealand in late 2010, Pakistan batted first and struggled considerably. It was their tail enders in the likes of these two who took their score to a competitive one. This partnership came in just 17 balls. Riaz remained unbeaten on 30 off 21 with 2 fours and 2 sixes while Akhtar scored 8 off 4 with a six. However, the total was not enough for Pakistan to seal victory in the game.
