England vs Australia, Leeds (22nd July- 27th July 1948)

Cyril Washbrook and Bill Edrich hit centuries in the first innings as England posted a mammoth first innings total of 496. Neil Harvey and Sam Hoxton got to a century and half-century respectively for Australia as they took their team to 458, giving their opposition, a slender little lead. England’s top order played well collectively as all the four top order batsmen got to half-centuries and England ended their second innings at 365 before declaring. Sir Donald Bradman and Arthur Morris made merry of the English bowlers in the second innings as both posted scores of 173 and 182, respectively as Australia won by 7 wickets.
