1. 334/8 by Australia Vs England at Sydney (2011)
The most successful run chase in Australia has been by the home side who chased down a mammoth 333 set by England in the 6th ODI during England’s tour down under in 2011. After winning the toss, England skipper Andrew Strauss hit 69 ball 63 to give the visitors a solid start. He put on 80 runs with Jonathan Trott for the 2nd wicket. Trott scored a gritty 137 off 126 balls with 11 boundaries to be the top scorer for the visiting side. It was some late hitting by Morgan and Ian Bell that saw England post a total of 333/6 in their 50 overs. Australian run chase began with everyone contributing to the score. There weren’t any hundreds score, yet Australia emerged top of the run chase. Watson started with a brisk 51 off 34. Calum Ferguson chipped in with 46 and Mitchell Johnson scored 57. David Hussey scored a timely 38 while the skipper Michael Clarke top scored with 70 ball 82. Australia won the match in 48.2 overs with two wickets in hand to ensure the highest successful run chase in ODI history down under.
