MS Dhoni and his cricketing future has become a household topic now for last few years. He announced his retirement from international cricket on August 15, 2020 but after that speculations began over his Indian Premier League (IPL) future. After IPL 2020, he confirmed that he will featuring in the 2021 edition but nothing of sorts has come from the veteran ever since the 2021 season has concluded.
After the final, he stated that all depends on the retention policy and doesn’t want the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) to suffer with the mega auction set to take place before IPL 2022. MS Dhoni attended an event on Saturday (November 20) and the familiar question once again popped up. But he continued to keep his fans guessing saying that there is so much time for the next season to get underway and he will think about it.
However, the 40-year-old brought the much-needed delighting news to the fans saying that he is hopeful of playing his last T20 game in Chennai. MS Dhoni has clearly dropped a hint of featuring in the next IPL season but as he said, nothing is confirmed yet.
“I have always planned my cricket. My last game that I played was in Ranchi, the ODI version my last game was at my home town in Ranchi. So hopefully my last T20, it will be in Chennai. Whether its next year or in five years time, we don’t really know,” Dhoni said even as the people attending the event clapped in unison after his last statement.

MS Dhoni tightlipped about his participation in IPL 2022
Earlier in the event, MS Dhoni said that he will think about playing in the IPL 2022 and hasn’t decided anything at the moment. “I will think about it, there is a lot of time, right now we are just in November. IPL 2022 will be played in April,” Dhoni said.
MS Dhoni also doesn’t want CSK to suffer and wants the franchise to build the team for next 10 years. After the IPL 2021 final, he had said it all depends on the retention policy. While BCCI is yet to officially announce anything, several reports have surfaced stating that the existing eight teams will be allowed to retain maximum four players with the possibly combinations being – 3 Indians and 1 overseas or 2 Indians and 2 overseas.
