Hopefully we can pull off a win at the Eden Gardens: Chris Morris
DC will face KKR on Friday at the iconic venue.
Delhi Capitals (DC) brought their season back on track with a thumping four-wicket win over the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on Sunday. After beating Mumbai Indians and Kolkata Knight Riders in their first three games, Delhi had lost two games in a row against Kings XI Punjab and Sunrisers Hyderabad. But before their season could get into a spot of bother, they got back to winning ways at the expense of RCB.
It was a convincing performance from the Shreyas Iyer-led side. Led by Kagiso Rabada, the Delhi bowlers came up with a fine effort to restrict the Royal Challengers to 149 for 8. Captain Iyer then led from the front, scoring 67 to help his side cross the finishing line with more than an over remaining. It was a much-needed win to boost Delhi’s confidence ahead of the tough showdown against Kolkata Knight Riders, who are currently sitting at the top of the table.
Delhi are the only side to have beaten the Knight Riders so far and will be looking to replicate that performance when they take on the two-time champions at the Eden Gardens on Friday. And ahead of the much-awaited showdown, their all-rounder Chris Morris has said that the team is looking forward to the challenge of performing at Eden Gardens.
“It was a very pleasing performance from the boys yesterday. To go out and win against RCB was something the boys were preparing well towards. The performance throughout the whole game was great, and even though there was a slight hiccup towards the end, in our batting, it was very pleasing to register the win.
I feel that our bowlers have been executing their plans pretty well and this win has surely brought back the confidence among the group,” Morris was quoted as saying by Times of India.
Morris hopeful of a win
Beating the Knight Riders at their home has been a tough task for the teams in recent years. And with the Knight Riders looking unstoppable at the moment, Delhi will have to play out of their skins to get the better of them. However, Morris is hopeful that his team can pull off a win against their fancied opponents.
“KKR are playing some amazing cricket. They have some great match winners in their team, players with X-factor. We’ve got a few days in between to rest and recover, and to get our bodies strong and fresh. We will, of course, go back to the drawing board and see what went wrong in the last match against them in Delhi which went to the Super Over.
“We will look to improve on those areas and make sure we are ready. Eden Gardens is a tough place to play for the visiting side, but as a team and as a unit, we look forward to the challenge and hopefully we can pull off a win here on Friday,” he further added.
