'How come you thought of this today and not before?' - Twitterati troll Kevin Pietersen for his mistimed tweet on COVID-19
Yuvraj was among the one trolling pulling his leg.
Last year in March, most of the countries had gone into lockdown due to outbreak of COVID-19. The pandemic literally brought the world to a standstill. After months of lockdown and other measures, slowly and steadily things started to improve this year but not before the second wave made things for certain countries. England and India are two of those countries where the COVID cases have shot again.
A few celebrities have also tested positive for the virus and to keep their fans and followers, they announce the news on social media and also inform those who came in contact to get themselves tested. On Saturday, former England cricketer Kevin Pietersen questioned this ritual asking if it is really necessary for people to announce that they have COVID.
“Can someone please tell me, why you need to announce it to the world, that you have Covid?! Pietersen tweeted Saturday afternoon.
However, little did he know that this tweet might lead to the social media gimmicks targetting him. Earlier in the day, former India cricketer Sachin Tendulkar informed the world that he has been tested positive for Coronavirus. And many thought that Kevin Pietersen took an indirect dig at Tendulkar for announcing the news of him getting contracted with the virus.
Kevin Pietersen didn’t know about Sachin testing positive for COVID
What followed was immense scrutiny of his tweet and people started digging his old tweets which they deemed were unnecessary. Some of them, including Yuvraj Singh, trolled him as well. Within a few minutes of his earlier tweet, Kevin Pietersen realised, may be due to the outrage, that Sachin Tendulkar has been tested positive and soon he made it clear that he was unaware of the news while also wishing the master blaster a speedy recovery.
“Just seen Sachin has it! Oops! Sorry @sachin_rt, get better soon buddy,” Kevin Pietersen wrote later after knowing about the news. Not long ago, the duo played against each other in the Road Safety World Series where Pietersen led England Legends while Sachin Tendulkar was at the helm of India Legends. However, the late realisation didn’t let Kevin escape the trolling on social media.
