Human beings are the biggest threat to this planet: Ravi Ashwin
The Test spin spearhead took to Twitter to state the current conditions of the earth.
Who would have thought that New Zealand, a country lying deep in the southern hemisphere far away from the overpopulated countries and continents of the world, would not be spared by the terrorists either? Just a month ago, Team India was in the picturesque nation, enjoying its time to the fullest while also playing against the Black Caps in a T20I and ODI series. But on Friday, some inhumane elements showed that the whole planet is now in danger of extremists.
The whole world was sent in shock as well as grief after separate incidents of mass shooting in the city of Christchurch. Jacinda Ardern, the Prime Minister of New Zealand, confirmed 49 people were killed during the attacks while more than a dozen are hospitalized after suffering fatal injuries. Two mosques were targeted, with the deadliest attack taking place at the Al Noor mosque in the city center where several Bangladesh players had gone right during the time of the shooting.
According to media reports, three men and one woman were held in custody following the attacks, while a number of improvised explosive devices strapped to vehicles were made safe by police. One male has since been charged with murder. The latest attack has once again shamed the humanity and India spinner Ravi Ashwin has perfectly summed it up through his tweet.
The Test spin spearhead took to Twitter to state the current conditions of the earth, tweeting, “There is no place that’s safe for humanity because human beings are the biggest threat to this planet. #christchurchshooting”
Bangladesh players safe
While confirming that all the players and the staff members are safe, Jalal Yunus, a spokesperson for the Bangladesh Cricket Board, has said that the members of the team had gone to the mosque by bus and were about to go inside when the shooting took place.
“They are safe, but they are mentally shocked. We have asked the team to stay confined in the hotel,” he told. In the wake of the attack, the third Test between Bangladesh and New Zealand, set to start from Saturday in Christchurch, has also been called off.
