'Hyderabad cricket team is influenced by money and corrupt people' - Ambati Rayudu accuses HCA
Rayudu featured in 55 One-day Internationals for India and scored 1694 runs.
Former Indian International Ambati Rayudu isn’t having a particularly good year. The former Andhra batsman started the year as the incumbent No.4 option for Team India for the fifty-over quadrennial event to eventually falling out of favour to taking an emotional retirement back in August, Rayudu has come a full circle when it comes to dwindling of fortunes of a professional sportsman.
The Chennai Super Kings batsman came out of retirement to lead Hyderabad in the recently concluded Vijay-Hazare Trophy- India’s premier One-day tournament and the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Twenty20 trophy but sent shockwaves when he decided to pull out of the upcoming Ranji Trophy season for Hyderabad. And, now the former Indian cricketer has taken to Twitter to appeal to Telangana’s Minister of Industry and Municipal Administration to have a look at the ‘rampant corruption’ in the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA).
Rayudu lashed out at the HCA
Rayudu also expressed his concern about the functioning of the state cricket association of Hyderabad where he wrote, “Hello sir @KTRTRS, I request u to plz look into nd address the rampant corruption prevailing in hca. Hw can hyderabad be great when it’s cricket team is influenced by money nd corrupt ppl who hav numerous acb cases against them which are being swept under the carpet.”
It is to be noted that earlier this year Mohammad Azharuddin was elected as the President of the Hyderabad Cricket Association. Rayudu pointed out the blatant corruption prevailing in the HCA, also mentioning that how can Hyderabad cricket grow if the cricket team is influenced by money and corrupt people, who have a plethora of cases lodged against them and are swept into the carpet.
Rayudu, on the other hand, is looking to prolong his white-ball career and his decision to move away from First-Class cricket is not the first time he has done that. In a bid to focus more on white-ball cricket, the Chennai Super Kings middle-order batsman had announced his retirement from four-day cricket. Rayudu featured in 55 One-day Internationals for the Men in Blue where he scored 1694 runs at an average of 47.05 before getting dropped from the World Cup squad in favour of Vijay Shankar.
