The youngster who caught the eye of the cricketing fraternity with his record-breaking innings of 546 in a Harris Sheild match was the Mumbai batting sensation, Prithvi Shaw. Last year the right-hander led the nation to its 4th U19 title in New Zealand. Soon he was snapped up by the Delhi franchise in the 2018 IPL auction.
Since then the teenager has grown leaps and bounds in his cricketing journey. He got his Test debut cap when the West Indies side visited the Indian shores in late 2018. Shaw accumulated more than 200 runs in that series and booked his ticket for the Test sojourn in Down Under. Unfortunately, he got injured in the warm-up game and after that, he has not represented India in international.
Shaw was in good form in IPL 2019 as he provided brisk starts to the Delhi team. Then the right-hander was supposed to play for India A in the West Indies but a hip injury kept him away from the game. Now in a shocking revelation, his return to the international fold has been further delayed due to a doping violation.
Honesty is the best policy
The Mumbai teenager has been termed as the next batting superstar of the country. Till now Prithvi Shaw has done all the right things in his career as he even stroked a century in his debut match. The right-hander has all the elements to become one of the most decorated cricketers of this country but his ill-luck started in Australia. Now it has continued as he has stumbled upon another obstacle by getting suspended for doping charges. Along with him, the other two cricketers have also been charged with the same misconduct.
After getting to know about his 8-month suspension, the youngster has quickly admitted the charges. According to him, he has not consumed the banned substance, Terbutaline on purpose. During the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, he took cough syrup and owing to its usage he has suffered this fate.
He accepted his mistake and has promised that he will be careful before taking any medicines in the future. Prithvi has also thanked BCCI for its full support and has assured the cricketing fraternity to return strong after serving his punishment.
