'I am going to steal those bats' - AB de Villiers and Virat Kohli indulge in a hilarious banter
AB joked that Kohli purposely hides his bats in a secret pocket.
One of the finest batsmen of the modern-era, Virat Kohli is basking in the joy of his IPL franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) success in the first half of the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). With five wins out of the seven matches, the Bangalore-based franchise is standing at the third position in the points table, just behind Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals due to the low net run rate.
Virat is also in his best form after having a quiet start to the tournament. Skipper made a comeback with a bang as he registered scores of 72*, 43, 90* and 33* in the last four outings. The RCB captain, on Wednesday, gave a sneak peek of the things he generally carries in his kit bag in a video shared by the office social media handle of Royal Challengers Bangalore.
It was quite evident from the video that just like every other cricketer, Virat loves to pack his cricket kit himself in a neat manner. The batsman revealed that he loves the smell of his new kit and packing his bag has a ‘calming effect’ on him.
The 31-year-old likes to be prepared for every situation beforehand, thus, he carries an extra pair of gloves, bats, stickers, thigh pad, and all the other gears required in every training session. Giving a glimpse of his thigh pads, Kohli revealed that the pads are quite close to him as they have his Test kit number written on them.
Notably, Virat is a big fan of the longest format of the game and has often emphasized the importance of playing Test cricket.
Kohli said he gets new gears for almost every tour and makes it a point to get fresh ones for the Indian Premier League. Kohli gave a glimpse of his thigh pads, wrist bands, gloves among other things.
A cute banter between Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers
While Virat was diligently highlighting the importance of everything present in his cricket gear, RCB’s wicketkeeper-batsman, and Kohli’s closest friend, AB de Villiers gatecrashed the video and joked that the former purposely hides his bats in a secret pocket.
Seeing the place where the bats were placed in the cricket kit, AB said that as now he is aware of their location, he is going to steal them from the captain. To this, Kohli accepted placing his bats in a secret compartment to prevent them from getting stolen. He further added that the players in the team are always behind his bats. Virat said that he had entered the tournament with 10 bats but has only three now as the rest of them are taken by his teammates.
