'I am hearing he dropped the water too' - Twitter trolls Tim Paine for carrying drinks in a BBL match
On Sunday, Tim Paine became the butt of all the jokes on social media once again after he was seen carrying water for the Hobart Hurricanes batsmen in a Big Bash League game.
The last one month or so has been really tough for Australia Test captain Tim Paine. From getting trolled, criticised as well as slammed, the wicketkeeper-batsman has seen it all. Earlier this month, he became the first Australia captain to lose two Test series at home to India. A couple of seasons ago, he had become the first Australia captain to lose a Test series at home to India.
Unsurprisingly, he faced criticism for his captaincy from the Australian cricket fraternity. But while criticism is a part and parcel of the game, he was also slammed for his behaviour during the series. The fans and experts had come down hard on him for his inappropriate comments for Ravichandran Ashwin during the third Test in Sydney.
In order to get under the skin of the India spin star, Paine had ended up abusing him. Missing a catch after that incident only made things worse for him as India went on to register an unlikely draw. Paine faced further humiliation when India thrashed the hosts at the Gabba after his ‘See you at the Gabba, mate’ comment for Ashwin.
Not only the fans but even Ashwin and his wife Prithi trolled Paine too following India’s monumental win at the Gabba. It was Australia’s first defeat at the venue since 1988. The win also helped India clinch the four-match series 2-1.
Tim Paine trolled again
On Sunday, Tim Paine became the butt of all the jokes on social media once again after he was seen carrying water for the Hobart Hurricanes batsmen in a Big Bash League game. Paine has joined his BBL side straight after the Test series against India. However, the Australia star is yet to get an opportunity in the playing eleven.
And as soon as the photos of Paine carrying the drinks surfaced on social media, several users could not help but troll the 36-year old. Few users found it ironic that the Australian Test captain couldn’t even make it to his BBL team’s playing XI. While one user said that Paine deserved the same in the Test team too, another user mocked him by saying he probably dropped the water bottles too.
