In the World Cup hosted by England, he scored 606 runs and grabbed 11 wickets. He also entered his name in the record books and he became the first player to score more than 600 runs and take 10+ wickets in a single World Cup.

In an interview, Shakib Al Hasan said that he has realized that he should not take anything for granted. As per him, he has learnt a big lesson that he should not ignore things that are related to the game. He added that it is a difficult time for not being able to play cricket for so long.
He recited that the best thing is that he was with his wife when she gave birth to his second child. According to him, he was not present with his better half when his first daughter was born and Shakib feels the most important thing for him at the moment is not getting depressed in the lockdown.
“I have realized that there are certain things that you just cannot take lightly due to ignorance and probably that is the biggest lesson I learnt during this time. It is a very difficult time for me because at the back of the mind you always think that I am not playing or not being able to play.
“The good thing is that I was able to stay with my wife during the birth of our second child. I could not do that when my first daughter was born and I am trying to be with them in the lockdown. For me, making sure that I am not depressed is extremely important as I am locked down in my house,” Shakib, who is currently in the United States, was quoted as saying by DW Bangla.
