Rahkeem Cornwall is still taking baby steps in international cricket. The Caribbean all-rounder is one of the popular stars of Caribbean Premier Leauge (CPL). Now, he is eyeing to feature in the pinnacle T20 league of the world– Indian Premier League.

Cornwall has just played 3 Test matches for the West Indies till now. He is currently representing St. Lucia Zouks in the CPL 2020 which is presently happening in Trinidad and Tobago. CPL is the only T20 league in which the all-rounder features. He wants to impress the IPL franchises to try his hand in the lucrative T20 exhibition. He wants to further star in other major tournaments apart from IPL as well.

“Well, that’s my aim. CPL is just a kickstart, I think I have to continue putting in performances to make sure other franchises look in my direction and I just have to make sure I am ready when that opportunity comes,” Cornwall said as quoted by India Today.

However, the right hander’s performance in CPL 2020 hasn’t been impressive. He was not among the leading run-scorers or wicket-takers in his initial few excursions. Meanwhile, his Test career has also been unsatisfactory with the bat as the all-rounder has managed an average of just seven. Though he has picked up 13 wickets in the three-Test matches he has played.

IPL is the epitome of the T20 leagues around the globe

The Indian Premier League is going to kick off from September 19th. The final of the cash-rich league will be played on November 10th. After ‘Vivo’, a Chinese mobile phone brand pulled out from the title sponsor for the season, BCCI has replaced it with ‘Dream XI’. The online fantasy cricket company bagged the title right for 244 crores for the upcoming season.

IPL has always been the epitome of the T20 leagues around the globe. The reason is the money involved in the extravaganza. Also, as per the contract with BCCI, the Indian players can only play in the IPL which makes it a major attraction of the world.
